Hello there! It has been a while… My last status update was in 2021, and a lot has happened.
In these three years, I had a lot of things going. The main thing is that I moved in with my partner, which has been a fantastic experience so far. I expected it to challenging at first, getting to live with someone different than yourself, but the more time we spend together, the more I love it! It is also has been a great learning experience for me to learn about myself and how I behave with others.
I also got to move to a bigger apartment which gave me space for more activities.
I started playing Commander (Magic the Gathering), which was really fun for a while. I ended up with a pretty big collection in the span of a year. But I got burned out of it and gave it a break, I may return to it later.
Another fun thing was getting into TTRPGs, I started running games for my friends, I fell in love with it. Getting to improvise characters with a bunch of friends is fun, and nerd out on rules and session planning is also really fun.
I got a server rack in my office, which was a dream come true for me, I now have a proper router and some servers which are helping me experiment with new tech and data hoarding. Running things like git mirrors and accessing my files from the outside (even other countries, while traveling) is easier than ever now. I also upgraded my workstation!
I finally purchased a 3D printer, a Neptune 4 Pro, which opened up a whole lot of projects for me. It also opened up a new hobby: actually tinkering with the damn thing. I initially thought I wouldn’t have much use outside printing miniatures and toys, but after printing home decor, functional parts and open hardware projects (Meshtastic, for example), I’m convinced that all hackers should have one at some point. (Or have access to one with a local hackerspace)
And a final thing, I started studying gamedev, mainly a suggestion/idea from a work colleague that worked on this in the past. Took the plunge and I’m loving every minute of it. Did a few small projects from courses scattered around the web. Using Godot as my main engine. I’m now currently working on a 2D action RPG, I got some basic systems already working, like skills, inventory, drops. My current journey is getting into procedural generation, which was always a thing I wanted to get into and it’s turning out to be really fun.
I even started a gamedev project with some nerds, more info on this in the future!
All of these new things deserve their own post, which I may write in the future. And they require time, and I’m currently working on getting them organized so that I can spend time in a sane manner without burnouts. That includes giving me time to work on nothing and just relax playing games or watching anime (which obviously is Dan Da Dan as of now!).
As of now, I plan to get some work done on my procedural generation studies and get some more content done for my game (basic items), this is probably going to be my December Adventure! I intend to document it here. And also get this site up to speed on my activities.
